Astronergy equips 8,500 post offices in Bangladesh with solar modules

Off-grid system safeguards only point of contact with the outside world from power cuts

Frankfurt (Oder)/Germany, Dhaka/Bangladesh, 14.11.2016 – The solar module manufacturer Astronergy is equipping 8,500 post offices in Bangladesh with German-made photovoltaic modules. Four 250-watt modules on each post office, together with a battery storage device, will ensure a stable and independent power supply for computers, scanners and printers – even in regions which are not connected to the power grid or often suffer power cuts.

Government Spending $20 Million To Power 8,500 Post Offices With PV And Storage

8,500 post offices to be equipped with PV and energy storage in Bangladesh

The PV module manufacturer Astronergy is equipping post offices in Bangladesh with German made PV modules, in order to prevent power outages and save on diesel. A total of 8,500 post offices are to be equipped with PV and energy storage technology by 2018. 1,500 of them are already in place, according to the PV manufacturer.

CCC installs 100 LED streetlights

The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has installed 100 light-emitting diode (LED) streetlights under a pilot project from the city’s Kazir Dewari intersection to Tiger Pass intersection. The aims behind this move are to cut the electricity bill, enhance the city’s beautification and facilitate visibility for smooth traffic flows across the port city at night. A self-financed scheme, the cost of the pilot project for installing these LED lights, which were inaugurated by city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin yesterday, is Tk. 49 lakh.
